Loom Club, was created to address the sense of isolation
that many millennials face in today's fast-paced world. Despite living in an
era of hyperconnectivity, people often feel more disconnected from their
neighbours than ever before. Established by two Londoners looking to combat
this issue, Loom Club aims to provide a variety of spaces under a single roof
and all within walking distance from the homes of its members.

Their first site is located within an Art Deco style,
industrial building home to a range of creatives including architects, chefs,
dancers, designers, and shoe-makers. Featuring a social, fitness and coworking
hub spread across two floors, the space is designed to encourage chance encounters
among members and to promote the well-being of the user community. We were enlisted to execute the architectural and interior
design scope of the project as well as design the wayfinding for the space. The
brief was to design a flexible environment that could serve different purposes
throughout the day and evening, with features that encourage interaction and
adaptability.

Our approach centred on retaining the building's industrial
character while introducing modern elements to create a comfortable and
functional space. We strategically opted to reclad only where necessary, up to
2.3 metres above the finished floor. Everything above this point, including the
ceiling, was left untouched. This approach not only reduced material and labour
costs, but also exposed a series of marks and imperfections. We began referring
to these traces as ‘ghosts of the past,’ recognising them as visible reminders

We used a system of curtains to divide the space into zones,
allowing for easy reconfiguration based on the needs of the members. The
curtains, crafted with varying degrees of opacity, provide visual and acoustic
separation while adding a unique aesthetic element to the design. Each of these
zones is paired with a unique set of furniture that offers a variety of seating
options for members to use according to their individual preferences.

The material palette was driven by a conscious effort to use
natural low carbon materials when possible. In an effort to embrace and
complement the existing industrial character of the building, we exposed the
original brickwork and paired it with slotted wood panels, acoustical cork wall
panels and plywood. The curtains, fabricated in white and beige fabric, add
another layer of softness to the space while beautifully capturing the light
from the windows. The earthy background was then carefully contrasted with
furniture, lights and lush plants that introduced pops of colour in terracotta,
red and green hues throughout the space.

Rener is a fine dining destination in Shenzhen that blurs the boundary between theater and gastronomy. Conceived as both stage and dining room, the restaurant draws on familiar hues and reinvented details from the Republic of China era to evoke nostalgia while simultaneously introducing something entirely new.

This project is a collaboration between Chinese-based interior and furniture
studio Yo.Q Design and Kasawoo.

Central to the design was the question of how to create something old and new at once. This evolved into an exploration of memory as a design material—ephemeral, fluid, and intangible—shaping architectural language and spatial choreography. Materials and forms interact lightly, creating atmospheres that feel both familiar and fleeting, inviting guests into a world that is remembered and imagined.

Located within the contemporary Qianhai Kerry Center, Ren’er offers a striking juxtaposition of setting and sentiment. The restaurant becomes a temporal portal, transporting patrons beyond the immediate context of the development into an environment suffused with memory, cinema, and dreamlike reverie. Spaces are designed to hold and reflect memory, where the interplay of light, shadow, and reflection evokes the fleeting quality of recollection.

The vision is closely tied to the restaurateur, an emerging actor with a background in cinematography and a passion for immersive storytelling. Inspired by Wes Anderson and Wong Kar Wai, he conceived a space where diners step into a carefully composed set—where memory and perception become part of the design, and guests are both observers and participants in a space that materializes recollection.

Design elements heighten theatricality while maintaining lightness: vibrant yet subtle colors, soft lighting, and reflective surfaces that extend sightlines. Mirrors, windows, and framed openings choreograph views between kitchen and dining room, creating moments like memories glimpsed from the corner of the eye. Patrons move through the space as characters in memory itself, experiencing environments that are at once tangible and ephemeral.Ren’er ultimately transforms dining into an immersive encounter with memory, cinema, and architecture, where memory is woven into the very fabric of space.

LokaReboon Gallery is a boundary-pushing, collaborative art exhibition that merges design, sustainability, and material innovation within the unique architectural backdrop of the iconic 1933 Old Millfun—an industrial heritage site reimagined as a contemporary creative space.
This curated experience is the result of a partnership between three visionary forces: LokaReboon, the pioneer behind a revolutionary eco-friendly material crafted from recycled balloons; Yo.Q Design, a dynamic studio known for playful interior and furniture design; and Kasawoo.

At the heart of LokaReboon Gallery is an exploration of material potential—specifically, how post-consumer and construction waste can be transformed into visually arresting and functional works of art. The exhibition reimagines the lifecycle of everyday materials, challenging conventional notions of waste and inspiring a dialogue around circular design practices. Each installation within the gallery space is a testament to how sustainability can coexist with beauty, creativity, and playfulness.

By placing ecological responsibility at the forefront of artistic expression, the exhibition seeks to inspire designers, artists, and the public to rethink their relationship with the materials that shape our world.

	Artotinis WorksProgram: Art Space
Location: Athens, GreeceArea: 200 m2&nbsp;
Status: On-going
Client: Alma Projects&nbsp; &nbsp;

Partner in Charge: Katie Kasabalis

Artotinis Works is a creative space in downtown Athens,
Greece, designed as both a retreat and a hub for artistic production. Conceived
by an artist couple who relocated from London to Athens, the project offers a
calm and flexible environment that bridges living and working.

	<img width="3840" height="2160" width_o="3840" height_o="2160" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/d226f7d18eee4e21a9ecd69fc379b3305da4bbf66b28cad6c064c7ab632dfb55/Artotinis-Works-Gallery-View.jpg" data-mid="245829161" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/d226f7d18eee4e21a9ecd69fc379b3305da4bbf66b28cad6c064c7ab632dfb55/Artotinis-Works-Gallery-View.jpg" />

	<img width="3840" height="2160" width_o="3840" height_o="2160" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/6e528c9caa84965c782189ba0ed821a1c8d536007855c324ac74af3b2587f5ef/Artotinis-Works-Workshop-View.jpg" data-mid="245829162" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/6e528c9caa84965c782189ba0ed821a1c8d536007855c324ac74af3b2587f5ef/Artotinis-Works-Workshop-View.jpg" />

Located in the basement of a typical Greek Polykatoikia,
the design reimagines how art-making and city living can coexist. The floor
plan is divided into two distinct zones: the street-facing front serves as an
exhibition space open to the city, while the rear accommodates a workshop and
intimate living quarters. This duality allows the space to function as both a
public interface and a private haven for creation.

Material choices reflect a dialogue between past and present. The classic
terrazzo flooring has been carefully preserved as a memory of Athens’
architectural fabric, while new plywood cladding introduces warmth, utility,
and adaptability. The contrast creates a tactile and atmospheric setting that
grounds the project in its context while offering a fresh perspective.

Artotinis Works embodies our ongoing interest in minimal, precise
interventions that reveal the hidden potential of spaces. By working with what
already exists and layering it with contemporary needs, the project
demonstrates how modest gestures can transform overlooked urban environments
into vibrant places for cultural life.

The
Root is a pre-fab holiday cabin situated on a small piece of ancestral farmland
in the village of Vanato on the island of Zante, Greece. Looking to contrast
the island's carbon-intensive concrete homes, we aspire to create a
simple, low-carbon structure that sits lightly in its surroundings. By
designing the building to be prefabricated off site, we were able to minimize
construction time whilst ensuring the structure meets all our spatial and
technical requirements.

The
land has been in Katie’s family ownership for over a century but has been
vacant since the early 1950s. Her grandmother grew up in the property before
the war, and the house is still standing as a piece of relic to the past. To
this day, the property has an active vineyard where raisins are being produced.
We fought hard against common practices of demolishing and redeveloping the
derelict house. Instead, we proposed a compact cabin packed full with
sustainable features that sits lightly on the land, standing in stark contrast
to the historic house on site and drawing attention to the surrounding
expansive landscapes. The root is a place in which you live carefree and
unconfined, in direct contact with the landscape, surrounded by nature and bare
necessities.

At
just under 20 m2 of gross internal area, our design celebrates the beauty of
minimal living and aims to contribute towards contemporary debates around
low-carbon living. The orientation of the cabin and the location of openings have
all been carefully considered to maximize usability and passive design
principles. Two sets of sliding glass doors with large external shutters create
a dramatic visual corridor with views across the surrounding landscape.
Benefiting from these large openings, the cabin is flooded with light and lives
to the rhythm of the seasons. The bedroom and bathroom bookend the east and
west end with smaller secondary picture windows framing views. The twisted roof
line mimics the mountainous landscapes of Zante and creates an undulating
ceiling to accentuate the height of the interiors. The walls and ceilings are
lined with sustainably sourced plywood panels that enhance the natural
aesthetic. Wood is also used to create built-in furniture, which includes the
kitchen units, the bed, and benches with integrated storage. A deck built from
sustainably sourced timber extends the northern and southern edge to create a
welcoming entry and offer many possibilities to open the house to the
surroundings, sun, and air.

back-to-the-basics living experience without the sacrifice of style and
comfort.

Cambridge Room On WheelsProgram: Civic and Public Art
Location: Cambridge, UKArea: 20 m2
Status: Competition Entry (2nd Place), 2023

Client:

The Cambridge
Association of Architects in partnership with the University of Cambridge,
Cambridge City Council and South Cambridge District Council

Partner in Charge: Katie Kasabalis

Cambridge Room On Wheels is a travelling public space that caters to
Cambridge’s unique urban conditions and highly transient population.

	<img width="1984" height="1116" width_o="1984" height_o="1116" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/fcfe9e78ee23774bddbab1d541f5f101cd3859bf9bfae36bff37d0553c56a181/Cambridge-Room-on-Wheels_Axo.jpg" data-mid="212153378" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/fcfe9e78ee23774bddbab1d541f5f101cd3859bf9bfae36bff37d0553c56a181/Cambridge-Room-on-Wheels_Axo.jpg" />

Our proposal draws inspiration from the long history of mobile
architecture in public space and in particular from the much-loved ice-cream
trucks and food stalls at the Cambridge market. Mounted on a standard sized
trailer, Cambridge Room On Wheels is an exciting civic platform facilitating
the sharing of knowledge especially among under represented stakeholders. It
can remain stationery in a fixed location or can be rapidly deployed across the
many urban and rural locations within the greater Cambridge area. Liberated
from the bounds of conventional real estate storefronts, Cambridge Room On
Wheels circumvents the oftentimes prohibitively high upfront and operational
costs associated to many of our urban civic spaces. Four pivot doors
strategically open to provide access into the space and to create an array of
adjacent social spaces. Organized in an open floor plan, the space displays
information in a straightforward manner on walls, pin-up spaces, shelves and a
communal table supporting the development of ethical best practices in planning
consultation. As part of the UK Urban Rooms Network, Cambridge Room On Wheels
is an inclusive space for everyone and can travel to wherever it is needed
most. &nbsp;

A young professional
couple working alongside Kasawoo has transformed a neglected interwar property
in Arbury, Cambridge into their ideal family home—playful, cozy, sociable, and
energy efficient. With a love for patterns and natural materials, they
envisioned a space that would grow with their young family while minimizing its
environmental footprint.

	A key intervention was
the dramatic improvement of the home’s thermal performance through the
application of external insulation to the aging brick façade. The resulting
duo-tone design reflects both the building’s internal layout and its local
context. The terracotta red base, color-matched to the street’s vernacular red
clay bricks, grounds the home in its setting. Meanwhile, the white upper level
visually recedes into the sky, lightening the building’s overall massing. This
two-tone strategy also mirrors the internal function of the house: the more
active, social spaces on the ground floor are clad in terracotta red, while the
more private, restful areas above are finished in white. New triple-glazed
windows, simplified in form and painted a complementary burgundy red, add depth
to the composition and reinforce the color palette.

	<img width="2048" height="1345" width_o="2048" height_o="1345" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/716b5211a4319245111e1d824bc9b3285c8a0d9ab94b8ba6280f4396a13000f9/CambridgeHouse-15.jpg" data-mid="230511372" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/716b5211a4319245111e1d824bc9b3285c8a0d9ab94b8ba6280f4396a13000f9/CambridgeHouse-15.jpg" />

	<img width="1462" height="2048" width_o="1462" height_o="2048" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/8810ffd26adff40b4532bc4b4b909596b5c4fe35adc433d2bd4ee7cf68a70968/CambridgeHouse-7.jpg" data-mid="230511291" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/8810ffd26adff40b4532bc4b4b909596b5c4fe35adc433d2bd4ee7cf68a70968/CambridgeHouse-7.jpg" />

The team sought to
radically reimagine the home's spatial organization while minimizing structural
changes. Selective interventions on the ground floor enhanced connectivity
between previously disjointed rooms. A dated and thermally inefficient orangery
was removed, restoring the home’s original footprint and reconnecting the
interior to the lush rear garden. Existing knee walls and tiled flooring were
retained to create the feel of a semi-enclosed “outdoor room,” blurring the
threshold between inside and out. This move not only opened up the plan but
dramatically improved daylight penetration across the ground floor.

	In the bathrooms, the
client was eager to experiment with patterned tiles, evoking memories of her
childhood in the South of France. Kasawoo sourced modern yet whimsical
terracotta tiles from Mandarin Stone, opting to alternate between patterned and
blank tiles to avoid overwhelming the spaces.

	From the outset,
Kasawoo worked closely with the homeowners to craft a personal and cohesive
material scheme. The warm, earthy tones inside echo the exterior palette,
resulting in a harmonious and unified design language throughout.

Flat In The valley reimagines a high-rise apartment on Hong Kong Island as a gentle and contemporary home for a young expatriate family. The project sits on the 29th floor of a well-established estate, offering expansive views of the city while maintaining a quiet sense of retreat.

Our approach was guided by the desire to bring warmth and intimacy to a
generous floor plan. The home draws from the calm structure of English
domesticity while embracing the immediacy of Hong Kong living. Classic details
were simplified and reinterpreted, allowing a dialogue between heritage and
modernity to emerge naturally.

Materiality plays a central role: oak, stone and soft fabrics form a tactile
foundation, while colour introduces a more playful dimension—earthy neutrals
meeting moments of brightness and joy. Daylight is treated as an active
material, softening edges and deepening the sense of stillness through the day.

Flat In The Valley continues our exploration of gentleness in
architecture—how spaces can nurture calm, express character through natural
materials, and find harmony between familiarity and change.

	We
were tasked with transforming the space into an apartment suited for modern
living that would showcase the client’s love for horses and subtle patterns as
well as the colour blue, and which would enable her to build a more permanent
homebase to accommodate any potential future growth to her family.

The brief for the
public area of the apartment was to create the perfect space for hosting,
whilst the private quarters were to be redesigned as a relaxing sanctuary where
the client could wind down from a busy, hectic day of Hong Kong's fast-paced
lifestyle. The design also had to accommodate the owner's impressive art
collection which had been amassed over the years and which contains family
heirlooms. This project is a great example
of Kasawoo’s mission to create homes that are as unique as the people that live
in them.
