Kasawoo was brought on board by a private client to reconfigure and revitalize a three bedroom family home located in Mid-Levels district of Hong Kong. Full architectural, interior design and construction administration services were provided for this project.
The Tung Shan Residence renovation actively re-thinks the role of storage in the contemporary apartment. Designed for a family of four, the project responds to today’s material culture and our deep desire to live simply. In Hong Kong, a city where space is scare and housing prices are soaring high, efficient and effective uses of spaces are key.
To that end, our project takes the existing closets, wardrobes and mismatched cabinets throughout the apartment, and consolidates them into a centralized storage core. The new storage system becomes an architectural gesture that organizes the client’s belongings while at the same time re-shaping the experience of their home into two discrete worlds - a series of private rooms and one large common area.
